"Nose: Dark and spicy, figs, apricots, really perfumed and enveloping. A touch of coffee. Just delicious on the palate. Great acid - lively. Lots of figs, apricots, baking spices, molasses. Really balanced and beautiful. Long sweet and spicy finish. What a treat. Lovely. Nose - 5.5/6, Palate - 5.5/6, Finish - 5/6, Je Ne Sais Quoi - 2/2 = 18/20 points."

"A deep amber-garnet in colour, still bright and rather youthful in appearance, with a fringe of orange and ambers. The nose was a huge complexity of spices, figs, apricots, coffee and toffee. It was clean and bright on the palate with apricots, dates and figs in a base of butter caramels and coffee and a nice balancing acidity to foil the high residual sugars. It lingered deliciously in a long spicy finish of cinnamon, nutmeg with hints of butter and molasses. An outstanding wine, wonderfully balanced and at its peak, it was remarkably well-preserved, considering its cork had begun leaking and it was ullaged to high shoulder. We feel ourselves privileged to have enjoyed this remarkable wine in such fine condition at nearly fifty years of age. I had bought these bottles in 1978 and still have a part bin; all the corks in the remaining bottles appear sound. From our marvellous experience with poorest bottle in the bin, I see no rush to finish the lot."

"From an excellent looking bottle, that had a lot of sediment clinging to the glass, this wine had a maple syrup colored center with yellow rims. The high intensity nose offered up honey, figs, white flowers, and white stone. In the mouth, this wine was quite sweet yet it was well balanced and quite captivating. It was a nice break from other desert wines. It was less nutty than Vin Santo and more floral than Sauternes. There was also less alcohol than most other desert wines. I very much enjoyed my first experience with aged Tokaji!"
