"Very subtle and mineral, this has wonderful elegance, in spite of the enormous concentration on the full-bodied and high-structured palate. Dark, smoky and mysterious at the super-long and super-straight finish. The floral-honey sweetness is already perfectly integrated, but this is still very youthful and tightly wound, so try to be patient. A yield of just over 3 hectoliters per hectare, so very limited production! Drinkable now, but best from 2025."
James Suckling
"It's a great experience to taste it after the estate wine, because it really comes out as a half-head taller, more complex wine. Concentrated yellow-fleshed fruitiness on the nose, apricot and peach decorations, deep and noble aromas, along with immeasurable purity. Truly captivating. Complex and youthful flavors at the same time, it has exceptional power, with delicate acids alongside high sugar. It is permeated with the kind of inexplicable primal power and depth that only the greatest wines have. The aftertaste is apricot jam, but tight, with endless playfulness. Újhegy is the lush indulgence, the estate wine is the textbook example, and this is a completely unique composition. A masterpiece, very close to perfection. 9+ Points"

ISTVÁN SZEPSY ...
... is introducing two unique Tokaji Aszú made from Furmint grapes harvested in two carefully selected parcels of two first-class vineyards on their estate in Mád. The special features of the 2017 vintage, as well as the knowledge and experience of Szepsy’s last three decades, are revealed in these wines in a passionate but understandable way. In 2017 the combination of a lot of sunshine, cold nights and cool dawns, and appropriate precipation, had such a stimulating effect on the quality of the Furmint vines living in the Szent Tamás and Betsek vineyards of the Szepsy estate that a vintage giving lots extraordinary in all respects could manifest. In these wines significant traits of the two vineyards bring a world of flavours in an unparalleled way like never before: beautiful aromas, striking acidity and high aging potential in concentrated, elegant and lively wines.
SZENT TAMÁS ...
... is located in the eastern part of Mád, where the Szepsy family has about 11 hectares of cultivated land at altitudes of 140-230 metres above sea level. The soil here is strikingly layered (red clay, weathered zeolite, hard rhyolite, tuff) due to post-volcanic activity, and this gives top wines from this vineyard the unparalleled mineral, complex and endless length along with several decades of potential. Rated First Class Growth.
