The Palugyay are a Hungarian family with roots back to the thirteenth century. The Palugyay family was always involved in wine growing in the Tokaji region, there are bottles known dating back to the late 18th century. But it was Jacob von Palugyay (1819-1886) who developed the Château Palugyay brand, whose wines were served even on the Titanic. The Palugyay Wine Growers were Purveyors by Special Appointment to the Imperial and Royal Court of Austro-Hungary, the Emperor of Mexico, the King of Spain, the King of the Belgians, Count of Flanders, Prince Charles of Roumania and Prince Milan of Serbia.
